Mr. Mathews is actively involved in a number of professional organizations and has held leadership positions throughout his legal career.

As a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, he has served as Chair of the Business Law Section, Chair of its Corporate and Securities Law Committee and co-chair of the Commerce Program Judge Pro Tem Committee.  In addition he served on the Board of Governors for six years and was Treasurer of the Bar Association between 2000 and 2002.  In 1997 and 1998, he co-chaired the Chancellor’s Commerce Court Task Force.  In December 2010, Mr. Mathews was a recipient, together with four others, of the Bar Association’s Wells Fargo Fidelity Award “in recognition of his extraordinary leadership, teamwork and commitment to the legal profession by helping to develop and maintain a Commerce Court Case Management Program.”

As a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel during the years he was Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Wachovia Corporation and predecessor banking organization, Mr. Mathews  chaired its National  Corporate and Securities Law Committee and also chaired its Litigation Issues Practice Group.

Mr. Mathews also is a member of the American Bar Association and its Litigation Section and Dispute Resolution Section.
